School Year 20-21

Posted by Laura Stephenson on

Oh August. We meet at last.

My firstborn is starting kinder.

I am NOT okay.

How is my sweet baby starting school? I may not be ready, but this kid is beating down the door to go to school.

We’ve used the last few weeks to help my guy get ready for all the big changes.
1. can be dress himself - honestly 🤣. Physically, yes, he can get dressed. Style wise? No. He needs supervision.
2. Can he open all parts of his lunch? Will be actually eat it? - this is my biggest fear. This is what we have really focused on. I’ve been “packing” his lunch everyday and putting it on the counter. I set a timer for 20 minutes and let him go. I’ve also trained him to throw away trash but bring home uneaten food. I want to know what he eats/doesn’t eat. No sense in sending a banana everyday if it’s just getting thrown away.
3. does he know how to ask for help? Learning to raise a hand. Your teacher will thank you 🤣.

I don’t know why I’m so caught up on lunch. Maybe it’s because it’s something I can control? Not sure. We’ve been trying all kinds of recipes. He’s not a sandwich kid, so creativity is key.
Here’s the link to our Current Menu Plan  - hope it helps make your week easier!

How are you/did you help your kiddo get ready for school? I’d love to hear from you!
